We normally start the year out with a square/round dance in February around Valentines Day.
In the spring we hold an annual tack sale at the Williams County Fairgrounds. In 2007 we moved the tack
sale to the 2nd Sunday in March.
For several years we have had two 2-day shows a year. We hold our first two-day show over Fathers Day weekend.
We hold the contesting events on Saturday starting at about 3pm and go for as long as we still have people wanting to run.
Then our pleasure events start on Sunday morning at 9am. We normally have our second 2-day show the second weekend in
August.
We have payback in all the classes and we have added money in certain classes that meet a minimum of entries.
We try to hold at least a couple trail rides each year. In the past we have held them at Oak Openings, the
Funny Farm, some of the members farms, The Bluffs at Camden, Michigan, and Waterloo in Michigan. We even a few years
ago had an overnight trail ride at Potato Creek over near South Bend, Indiana. The Saddle Club paid for one night for
all members to stay overnight that wanted to.
We ride in several of the parades around in the county each year during the summer months. In the fall, normally
the end of September or the first of October, we have a fun day at the fairgrounds where we all get together and have different
riding events and have a potluck afterwards.
A few years ago we started a Trail Miles rider program. You keep track of the miles you ride each year and at the
annual meeting you turn in the total miles that you have rode that year. Prizes are awarded to the junior and senior
riders that rode the most miles.
Then in November we have our annual banquet. We have a potluck and our annual meeting. We have lots of door
prizes and normally everyone gets a prize. At this meeting we vote on the officers and board members for the next
year.
